In less than 40 years, computer graphics and digital devices have transformed film experience with techniques such as digital compositing, motion control, computer-generated characters and photo-realistic images incorporated into live-action footage. Join a panel of film and visual effects experts as they discuss the new visual effects tools and techniques that have not only revolutionized the industry but have globalized the industry.

Speaker Bios:

Jeff White, Industrial Light and Magic

Jeff is the Visual Effects Supervisor at Industrial Light and Magic and has worked on Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon, Avengers, The Chronicals of Narnia, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Star Wars: Episode III and other acclaimed, visual effects driven films. He has a B.S. in Cinema and Photography from Ithica College and an MFA in Computer Art at Savannah College of Art and Design.

Miquel Barceló, Barcelona School of Informatics, Polytechnic University of Catalonia

Miquel is a professor at the Barcelona School of Informatics,having worked almost twenty years as a systems engineer at a multinational computer. And, last but not least, is also editor, translator, author and award-winning specialist in the narrative genre known as science fiction.

Javier Garcia, Fassman

Javier is a VFX artist and worked on the feature films Rec2 and Buried. In 2010, Javier joined Lluis Castells (vfx supervisor who won the Goya for best vfx in 2007 for The Orphanage) and created Fassman, a studio in Barcelona specializing in vfx for cinema. Fassman has been vfx supervisors for films such as EVA (GOYA 2011, Gaudí 2011, Maria 2011, among other awards) and The Impossible, JA Bayona's upcoming movie.

Jordi Costa, Entropy Studio

Jordi has a large career working for companies like Filmtel and Nectar Studio where he worked on Faust-La Venganza Esta en la Sangre (2000), Dagon-La Secta del Mar (2001) and Rojo Sangre (2004). In 2005, he became 3D Department Director on Infinia and did commercial work for San Miguel, BMW, Fontbella, and Danone. In 2007, he became Company Partner of Entropy Studio as Senior CGI Artist where he earned the Best Vissual Effects Goya Award for the feature film EVA.

Boris Martinez, Entropy Studio

Boris works at Entropy Studio in digital compositing for cinema, television and commercials. His work on the film EVA earned Boris a Goya Best Visual Effects 2012, aswell as for tv shows such as  El Barco and commercials for large international brands. Boris recently worked with Estudio Mariscal as a digital compositing and color correcting artist for the Academy award nominated film Chico & Rita.
